RAIDSOnline is a public crime map that displays incident reports in neighborhoods connected to their reporting system via their local law enforcement agency. Sacramento City Police and the Sacramento County Sheriff log incident reports to RAIDSOnline. If you live in Sacramento City or County, you can access a map with recent police incident reports on a map. The map can zoom in to high detail at which point colored icons with symbols link to incident reports.
Sacramento City and County law enforcement are currently updating fairly regularly with crime reports as fresh as two days showing on the RAIDSOnline Map. You can also submit anonymous crime tips via RAIDSOnline. RAIDSOnline is accessed via a computer browser and does not require a membership or login. You are only required to agree to the Terms of Service presented when you log in.
What we like about RAIDSOnline for anyone who lives in a community that logs incident reports with the service, is that you can see recent criminal activity in your neighborhood. Not only can you see what type of crime, but you can also see approximate time of the crime. When it comes to your elder citizens, especially those that live alone, instead of waiting for a crime to happen, you can take actions to prevent crimes such as alerting neighbors, checking to be sure your elder citizen’s home is properly secured and if necessary take any appropriate actions to reduce the risk of crime in your elder citizens neighborhood.
The most important aspect of RAIDSOnline is that it gives you information about threats in your neighborhood or that of your elder citizen. In checking around a client’s home as a test, he was a amazed to find that one house around the corner was burglarized twice in a week! Also, the route the client takes to a small convenience store, seemed safe enough, yet there were crime reports including an aggravated assault and robbery. These crimes were less than a few days old when checked and caused the client to not only change his patterns and awareness, but also advise his elder loved one to avoid certain public streets when they take their evening walk.
“RAIDS” stands for “Regional Analysis & Information Sharing. RAIDSOnline is not in all Sacramento-area communities. At this time no Placer, Eldorado or Nevada County communities are participating. Currently the service is live for Sacramento City and Sacramento County. Other communities participating with RAIDSOnline include Stockton, Walnut Creek, Brentwood, San Rafael, El Cerrito, Sausalito and Novato police departments as well as the San Joaquin County Sheriffs.
